
Alice is a proud Ngarabul woman from Northern NSW, who grew up on Wonnarua Country in the Hunter Valley region and currently lives and works on Awabakal Country in NSW. Alice is committed to, and passionate about advocating for the rights and health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In her most recent role at Lowitja Institute, Alice works as Senior Project Officer supporting in the implementation of scholarships and research grants which support the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health professionals, researchers, and practitioners. With an academic background in Indigenous policy and research, Alice is dedicated to promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination and working to build successful partnerships across sectors, in order to increase community participation in development opportunities which are identified, led, and driven by community. Alice is thrilled to join Poche as a fulltime PhD student and hopes to undertake community-driven research, which will explore incorporating First Nations perspective into all aspects of regional planning to improve the health and wellbeing of all First Nations people in the Upper Hunter region.
