Kate Thompson
Kate is a Gooreng Gooreng (Bundaberg) and Yuggerah (Ipswich) woman from Bundaberg, Queensland.
Kate completed a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) at the University of Queensland (UQ) in 2017. In early 2018, Kate commenced working at a community-controlled organisation in the foster and kinship care space where she had the opportunity to work with non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foster and kinship carers, who were caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care. Kate is currently a Board Director for the Australian Association for Adolescent Health.
Kate currently works at the University of Queensland as co-course coordinator and tutor for the course “Working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples” for Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work undergraduate and postgraduate students alongside completing her PhD studies.
