Emily is a proud descendant of the Yamatji peoples and a third-year PhD student at UQ's School of Public Health under the supervision of Dr Andrew Smirnov and Professor Gail Garvey.

For the past three years, Emily has worked alongside Dr Smirnov on the QSHRF harm reduction project: Enhancing harm reduction services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who inject drugs through improved engagement. Emily has also worked at the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC) as a sexual health officer, supporting QAIHC's ACCHO members in STI and BBV related advocacy and support. Emily has a strong passion for harm reduction in the context of substance use and injecting drug use, BBV/STI related work, and making healthcare and harm reduction services more holistic, equitable and safe for mob.
