Mariah is a proud Kuku Yalanji, Jirrbal & Meriam woman living & raising her family in Innisfail (Mamu Country). Mariah has worked for the Local Aboriginal Health Service in Innisfail for the last 12 years, in the Finance/Administration department & acquired her Certificate IV in Accounting in 2017. Through these years she worked behind the scenes assisting the Clinics, SEWB, Family Well-being & Senior Management Teams in providing holistic healthcare to the Cassowary Coast & Tableland region.

Mariah has always had a desire to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of Indigenous communities and has been heavily involved in local community groups with her strong connections, volunteering, and support to "Innisfail Basketball" and the annual "Diamonds in the sky" suicide intervention carnival.

Throughout the years, Mariah has coached and mentored youth in Basketball where in 2023, Mariah was selected as Head coach of the Qld North U14 Girls team in the National Indigenous Basketball Tournament.

Mariah has always had interest in working more frontline with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Youth & Family wellbeing, which is what led her to commencing her role as Senior Community Engagement Officer at the Poche Centre in supporting the IMPACT STI’s & ENDING STI’s research projects.

In the future, Mariah hopes to further her education and experience so she can contribute even more effectively to the important work being done in the aboriginal health sector.
