Researcher biography

Dr Elke Mitchell is a Senior Research Fellow in the UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health at the University of Queensland. She is a social researcher with 14 years’ experience undertaking qualitative, ethnographic and participatory research, and public health program evaluation in Australia and the Asia Pacific. Her current work focuses on the cultural and social aspects of sexual, reproductive and maternal health, HIV and other public health issues among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia and young people and other marginalised populations in the Pacific (Fiji and Papua New Guinea).
