Researcher biography

Dr Paul Schwenn (PhD physics, UQ) is a Research Data Scientist at The UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health where he is leading the technical expansion of the ATLAS Indigenous primary care surveillance network. His role is also to help strengthen Indigenous Data Sovereignty and provide training for emerging Indigenous data scientists.

Paul has extensive research and mentoring experience from both industry and academia. He is a physicist by training and lucky enough to have worked in diverse research fields including the physics of light-matter interaction, materials science, electrochemistry, neuroscience, psychology, statistics, machine learning, high-performance computing, and full stack data science.

Furthermore, he has extensive software development experience including web applications, statistical analysis, data visualisation and reporting automation software, as well as the design and construction of instrumentation for data acquisition. On the side he likes to investigate Psi phenomena.
