We are committed to supporting the development of a highly-skilled research workforce of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples to respond to challenges in urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health through:

  • Recognising the strengths of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander staff, students, communities and partner organisations and supporting them to develop research capacities and capabilities
  • Providing a safe space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students and partners to reach their full potential
  • Ensuring reciprocal learning and research skills building within research partnerships
  • Creating research career pathways
  • Collaborating with clinical partners to provide greater support, mentoring, career opportunities and placements in Indigenous health for students
Our Summer and Winter Research Programs provide an unforgettable opportunity to gain research experience working alongside some of the university’s leading academics and researchers. By participating, students gain valuable academic and professional opportunities, develop analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, and have an opportunity to cultivate links with industry and academic contacts. It’s a chance to ‘test drive’ research before embarking on further research studies or higher degree research projects.
We provide a safe, exciting space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to undertake postgraduate research, with support from a multidisciplinary team of researchers. We offer a generous scholarship to support Indigenous students undertake a Higher Degree by Research (Masters by Research, MPhil or PhD), targeted at improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in urban settings.
